Investing In A 12 Second Commute With A Simple Automatic Responder
There are many online tools you can use to market and manage a business but the one I’m going to focus on is the automatic responder also called email autoresponders.
This is a service provided to you by a company that you will have an account with. The price of this service is going to vary a lot and you usually will have to invest monthly, I’d really like to stress the word “invest” because that is exactly what you will be doing… investing in your business. There are free services out there but I personally avoid them.
If you are new to online marketing and are a bit confused about where to start, you are not alone. Many new comers to the industry are slowly but surely learning the importance of using tools to market and manage their online business and you will too.
At first, you may not have a clue what marketing tools are, that is why I’m writing this, to help you better understand what they are and why they should be considered if you want to have a profitable business.
When a customer shows an interest in your product, program or service, you need to follow up with that person, if you don’t you will most likely lose that sale.
Using an automatic responder to do your personalized follow up, can dramatically increase the amount of sales you receive as well as cut down the time it would take you to do this manually.
Once someone is interested in what you have to offer and requests more information there are numerous things that can distract them away from what they have requested so that’s why it is vital to get your offer in front of a customer more than once. Most times a customer will not take you up on your offer on the first exposure so ideally you will want to have this placed in front of them 5-7 times and you do this with a sequence of automatic responder messages.
How do they start to receive your messages? Well, if you already have a program you are involved with, you may already have a Capture Page. When someone signs up to your capture page, they will start to receive your messages one at a time and hopefully you are able to edit these messages as you see fit because some messages can come across too “selly” and people don’t like to be sold to. You should be in complete control as to how many days, weeks or even months apart they will receive your messages.
One thing to really pay attention to; if you are involved with a program and people sign up to your capture page chances are if you do not have your own personal capture page and automatic autoresponder you are probably building the companies list not your own!
Say a year from now you quite promoting the product, program or service you are currently involved with… will you be able to take your list with you?
So a solution to this is, if you already have an autoresponder with your current company, you can easily copy and paste the autoresponder series of letters into your own email autoresponder account and you can even copy the capture page and make your own using the same information putting in your own sign up form and then link the 2 together and still promote this way you will have your own personal list you can take with you wherever you go.
That is why I can not stress enough getting your own automatic responder account, all the hard work that goes into building your list, your business and ultimately your future is going to be all for nothing if you can’t take your list with you.
Once you start building your list you must never stop.
These are what we call “hot leads” people who are interested in what you have to offer, all you have to do is give them what they want and eventually they will purchase, maybe not today, next week but maybe in 3 months from now.
The timing has to be right for them to purchase and you want to be there when that time comes!

Oprah Didn’t Call – Don’t Be A Dingus Like Me!

The term “scam” can be interpreted in many forms; I suppose that Continental Who’s Who may or may not be a scam in the legal sense — all readers may interpret my opinions as they see fit.
I have no idea where I came across Continental Who’s Who but I did non the less.
Maybe they found me.
Anyway, from their site, I loaded up some basic information about myself and what I do professionally to the Continental Who’s Who website months ago. Not long ago, I was sent information from them saying they needed to update some of my info so I did, not thinking they would actually accept me.
So I made the effort of accepting. I thought that it must be some kind of honor. When I received no reply and figured that I must not be that accomplished after all
and forgot all about it.
June 23 2010.
I was working away at my computer when I received a phone call from a professional-sounding woman having a great day! The conversation that followed went something like this:
Lady: “Hello Angie Mitchell. Let me be the first to congratulate you on your acceptance into the Continental Who’s Who Registry. We want you to know that we have selected you on the merits of your work and accomplishments. Our team of researchers has reviewed your accomplishments, and we find it a great honor to include you in our directory”.
“First let me personally congratulate you on all you’ve accomplished. You should be recognized for this, and I know this will bring you to another level. I think this is going to be perfect for you from what I see right here. After your acceptance into the our Registry, you will be part of a network of professionals and distinguished individuals who stand out in their respective fields”.
“As part of your membership, you will be eligible to be published in our online registry as well as physically published directories. Your biography will be available for other professionals around the world to view. This is an excellent networking tool. I see that you are in the business of networking.”
I was now feeling like all that and a bag of chips. And thinking to myself, Wow… they think I’m a really outstanding person!
The lady then asked me some more questions like how I became so accomplished in my field, how I became so successful etc., etc.
She already had a list in front of her of my basic profile information since I filled that out already the first time. She noticed that I did pilates and she told me she loved pilates too.
I took a deep breath of pride and spewed out all the things that make me so cool (and left out things like my success has not made me independently wealthy yet and Oprah has yet to call and invite me to be on her show).
Oprah if you’re reading this… CALL ME!
After information overload from this cheerful lass, I was asked how I wanted to pay for this package, she recommended the $789 platinum lifetime package for me… I was like… What? (Silly me for thinking this would be free) I said no, I’m not paying $789. She said they had a gold 5 year package only $589 and that I could upgrade at any time and just pay the difference in package price. I said no to that too, I couldn’t afford it at this time.
She said “we don’t do this for everyone but let me check and see if we can work something out for you because I don’t want to see you miss this opportunity” (she never got off the phone with me for a second to check with anyone) She continued to break me down, and wasn’t taking no for an answer (yes I know better) but I was having a “moment” I guess.
Damn she’s good! (I should hire her)
I cautiously agreed to the $200 in 3 equal payments…
I am a big believer in the use of social networking to grow a business. After some discussions and with big reservations, I agreed a price to be included for a fixed 5 year period.
She said that a Welcome Package was going to be sent to me and that I was to include a written Biography and a photo of myself if I chose and to fill out the required information and send it back to them.
Still, all this just wasn’t sitting right with me so about 10-15 minutes later, I called her back and said “you know what, this really isn’t for me right now, I’d like you to NOT process my credit card information.”
I wasn’t dealing with a cheerful lass anymore.
She said “too bad we already put your card through, the money is non refundable, it goes against our terms of service or maybe she said policy. Who cares?! (I was never explained their terms or policy) I was just told that “this was a now or never type thing” I felt rushed into it and I didn’t want to keep her waiting on the phone while I went away to ponder.
I feel I was strong-armed.
My own fault I suppose.
What was I thinking?!
She told me “we did you a favor, we give you the 3 installments, remember Angie, we talked about this, this is going to be good for you!”
I have no previous experience with the company so I can’t say if it is a scam or not. But my gut tells me so. (Make your own judgement)
I called Who’s Who again June 24 to say “I DON’T WANT THIS”!
I was now speaking to a man in charge… he told me to call back around 4PM. I called back at 3:30ish. He told me that they believe the proper information had been disclosed to me and that they have decided that they could not reverse the charges but he was my advocate in this discussion and they’ve decided they would give me the 5 yr gold membership for just the $200.
I asked if they would ever charge me again and he said no (he said I will give that to you in writing) but after one year if I felt this was a benefit to me and because Who’s Who is Member funded they would appreciate another installment.
I still have bad feelings about this…
Long story short.. when my Welcome Package arrives, I will return to sender.
I have contacted my CC Company and we are now starting the process and are going to dispute the charges…
I wish I did some research first, I could have avoided this situation.
Learn from my mistakes!

Something happened to me today and I just can’t make myself feel better about the situation. For those of you in 12 Second Commute or for anybody involved with Internet Marketing for that matter, I want you to know that things like this do happen and will continue to happen as long as there is life.
Disappointments.
The reason I’m so upset about what I’m about to tell you is because it has never happened to me before… until sometime last night. I like to think that I’m a different kind of internet marketer, actually I don’t like to think of myself as an Internet Marketer because for me it has a bit of a negative connotation, it makes me think of a person who is trying to “sell” something, someone who has dollar signs in their eyes.
Although I’m in business to make money, I don’t want to “sell” to people, I want to help enhance their business and in turn enhance their life.
I will tell you this, there is no better feeling in the world than knowing that I played some small part in helping someone else attain success, no matter how small or large that success becomes.
I have done everything in my power to help or direct the people on my 12 Second Commute team and I see us all as equals, we all want the same things, we are all just at different points in the “game” and as long as we are moving forward at a slow and steady pace, I know we will win the race.
I’m rambling.
I could go on and on…
But, I want to warn you in advance if you ever join my 12 Second Commute team, I won’t call it a “downline” because that’s negative to me as well, if you are ever on my team, I’m going to be the biggest pain in the ass sponsor you will ever have because I want you to succeed. Even if you give up on yourself, I won’t!
Sometime in the wee hours of the morning, the very first person to join my 12 Second Commute team QUIT! I have turned myself inside out, upside down and backwards to reach out. It started off so well, then turned into nothing at all. But I kept trying and giving… leaving her to her business but letting her know I was still there.
I got nothing in return. Sure she had a good following of her own, they are also on my team but that’s not the point.
I lost one.
For me, it doesn’t mater who’s team you’re on, if I can help I will.
My good friend Jim Roche has always told me “don’t get too high and don’t get too low,” I guess I feel this way because I care so much. I feel as though I have failed. I prided myself knowing that not a single person that has joined me has left… until today.
I know the old saying goes “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make em drink” well I’m sure as hell going to try! (The image I have in my head is arms and legs wrapped around the horses neck, while hanging over a puddle of water trying desperately to get his head down.)
You are not invited to my pity party, the bar is closed… time to go home.

Let me tell you, I was searching the internet today looking for “email marketing tools,” I was doing a little comparison shopping and holy cow!
When selecting an email marketing provider, price is always a factor in the decision-making process, cool… I understand that.
